It is with great pride that I am assisting the campaign to support the Greg Stein Endowment Fund.

If anyone embodied Phi Kappa Theta’s motto, “Give, expecting nothing thereof.” it would have to be Greg Stein, the man who originated the proposal for the motto at the 1973 convention.

As a teacher, Greg valued education and sought opportunities to help others learn. These were personal values that Greg held throughout his adult life. He felt that all students needed and deserved an opportunity for tutoring assistance. While there are opportunities to recognize and reward academic accomplishments based on merit, Greg felt that undergraduate brothers who struggled financially to stay in college were underserved.

In honor of Greg’s contributions to the national Fraternity and to the Iowa Xi chapter, the Iowa Xi Foundation established a permanent endowment in his name. The purpose will be to award grants annually to collegiate brothers for things that were important to Greg:

• Recognizing graduating seniors – celebrate brothers’ educational success as well as their transition from collegiate brother to alumnus brother.
• Providing tutoring assistance – lend an academic hand to help brothers succeed.
• Offering needs-based scholarships – lend a financial hand to help brothers succeed.

I am dedicated to the success of this project and have made my own commitment to this campaign; I hope that you will take this opportunity to join me and support the Greg Stein Endowment Fund as well.
